FLO, a brand of AddEnergie, an EV charging manufacturer for single and multi-unit residential buildings, as well as public stations, invested in a new electric vehicle charger manufacturing facility in Auburn Hills (Oakland County).

The company expects to produce 250,000 EV chargers by 2028 for the U.S. market and the facility is expected to create a total of 730 direct, indirect and induced jobs by 2028.

Lucid Motors has established an engineering and R&D hub in Southfield, which is 30,000 sq. ft. office space and 75,000 sq. ft. of lab space.

The Southfield teams will help production of its Lucid Air, a luxury three-row SUV, which starts at $70,000 and is expected to produce 10,000 annually.

Laepple Automotive US, Inc, a Tier-1 automotive supplier based out of Teublitz, Germany, is solidifying its international expansion by opening a U.S. Headquarter and production plant in Detroit.

Laepple Automotive US, Inc, is a full-range spare parts supplier for the North American Market. They produce hoods, fenders, doors, trunk lids, and more.

The company plans to renovate the historic Mt. Elliot tool and die production facility in Detroit, Michigan. While renovations continue production for its new American OEM orders will occur at the German site.

Expleo USA Inc. based in France is establishing its first North American research and development facility in Oakland County.

The new location will provide local and global automotive OEMs and Tier1 suppliers with services and expertise in a wide range of competencies (electronics, hardware/software, digitalization, IT and consulting) to support our customers in the trend of software-defined vehicle transformation and new digital services.

Rheinmetall acquired Michigan-based Loc Performance in Sterling Heights (Macomb County) for $950 million at the end of 2024.

The purchase brings American Rheinmetall Vehicles 1.7 million sq. ft. of modern, efficient manufacturing space with significant capacity for plans of future U.S. expansion.

The company plans to keep all of the employees 1,000 employees on staff as well as create additional jobs at the location.

The manufacturing capabilities include modernized fabrication, machining, and welding proficiencies, each of which supports the critical manufacturing requirements found in American Rheinmetall Vehicles’ current programs such as XM30 and CTT and future pursuits.
