AJG Aerospace strengthened its manufacturing footprint in the Detroit Region to support growing demand across the space, defense, and commercial aviation industries. The company identified the region’s skilled talent pool as a major advantage, noting that access to qualified workers played an important role in both its $33 million investment and long-term trajectory.
EcoG
Germany’s EcoG, a software company driving innovation in the EV charging space, selected the Detroit Region to support its next stage of North American growth. Backed in part by a $1.5 million performance-based grant, the company benefited from the region’s globally recognized mobility ecosystem, industry expertise, and skilled workforce, creating a strong foundation for future expansion.
MEC
Wisconsin-based Mayville Engineering chose the Detroit Region as a strategic location for its new growth strategy, attracted by world-class manufacturing talent and advanced industrial capabilities. The region’s comprehensive manufacturing ecosystem supported the leading U.S. fabricator’s $52 million expansion, resulting in 365 new jobs created.
FLO
Quebec-based FLO, the electric vehicle charging brand of AddÉnergie, selected the Detroit Region for a new manufacturing facility serving residential, multi-residential, and public charging markets. The project enhanced the company’s ability to meet growing demand for EV infrastructure, with production expected to reach 250,000 chargers annually by 2028 and support approximately 730 jobs throughout the regional economy.
Lucid
Lucid Motors expanded its presence in the Detroit Region with a new engineering and R&D hub, taking advantage of the region’s high concentration of engineering talent. The California-based company’s new facility included 30,000 square feet of office space and 75,000 square feet of laboratory space, providing a base for teams working on the development and production of the Lucid Gravity SUV and future vehicle programs.
Leapple Automotive
Laepple Automotive US, a subsidiary of the Germany-based Tier 1 automotive supplier, expanded its international footprint by establishing its U.S. headquarters and production operations in Detroit. As a supplier of replacement body components for the North American market, the company’s $93 million investment lays the foundation for future growth and manufacturing operations in the region.
Expleo
France-based Expleo established its first North American research and development hub, reinforcing the Detroit Region’s position as a global center for mobility innovation. The facility enabled the company to deliver advanced engineering and digital transformation services to OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers, supporting the growing shift toward software-defined vehicles and connected mobility solutions.
Rheinmetall
American Rheinmetall, the US subsidiary of the German giant, reinforced its commitment to the Detroit Region through a local acquisition and $950 million investment, adding a significant advanced manufacturing operation to its North American portfolio. The investment expanded production capacity for current and future defense programs and retained approximately 1,000 skilled employees.
