DETROIT, Mich. (September 15, 2025) – The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) announces that the Detroit Regional Partnership has been recognized as one of 92 economic development organizations accredited by IEDC as an Accredited Economic Development Organization (AEDO).

“The Detroit Regional Partnership displays the professionalism, commitment, and technical expertise that is deserving of this honor,” said IEDC President and CEO Nathan Ohle.

The Detroit Regional Partnership is a nonprofit economic development organization focused on marketing and growing the 11-county Detroit region. With the goal of making metro Detroit one of the most prosperous and inclusive places in the nation by 2030, the organization has helped attract 121 projects to the Detroit region in just five years, creating an estimated $9.4 billion in investment and more than 36,500 jobs.

“Our team is honored by this recognition from the IEDC,” said Maureen Donohue Krauss, president & CEO of the Detroit Regional Partnership. “We look forward to continuing to operate in alignment with the AEDO program’s high standards in our mission to create economic opportunity and strong communities for our neighbors across the Detroit region. I’m deeply grateful to our team members and partners for enabling this accreditation.”

The AEDO program is a comprehensive peer review process that measures economic development organizations against commonly held standards in the profession. The program consists of two phases: a documentation review and an onsite visit. Each phase is designed to evaluate information about the structure, organization, funding, programs, and staff of the candidate economic development organization.

Earning the AEDO accreditation tells the community and prospects that the Detroit Regional Partnership has attained a measure of excellence assuring that their trust is well-placed and their business is in good hands.

Maintenance of the AEDO status is required every three years and is accomplished through documentation submission and/or onsite visits by a team of the AEDO subcommittee.
