Detroit Regional Partnership Hosts Site Selectors Guild

Earlier this month, the Detroit Regional Partnership partnered with the Site Selectors Guild and Michigan Economic Development Corporation to host national site selectors from various industry sectors for a three-day tour showcasing the city and region’s momentum.

“Site selectors are key influencers who help major corporations decide where to locate and invest, and we were proud to show them why our region is the premier place to access the North American market,” said Maureen Donohue Krauss, president and CEO of the Detroit Regional Partnership. “People from around the country who haven’t visited Detroit just don’t understand how far we’ve come. Hosting groups like the Site Selectors Guild is changing the conversation and helping investors better understand the advantages of being here.”

From Aug. 2 – 4, the site selectors explored key projects, placemaking initiatives and sites of future developments in Detroit’s Central Business District and along the Detroit Riverfront. They also connected with key elected officials and economic developers and heard directly from businesses that are playing a central role in the region’s resurgence, including Bedrock, Consumer’s Energy, DTE Energy, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Huntington National Bank, Lear, Olympia Development, and Stellantis.

“In addition to seeing the progress in the city and region, the site selectors provide insight into how we can better shape our business climate and make it an even more attractive place for investment. That’s critical perspective as we promote this region to domestic and international companies,” said Justin Robinson, Senior Vice President of Business Development for the Detroit Regional Partnership.

In July, the Detroit Regional Partnership hosted another group of site selectors in collaboration with Area Development Magazine for a similar tour. Between the two events, the Partnership has welcomed more than 30 site selectors to the city, connecting them with more than 60 economic development professionals from around Michigan. It marked the first times the organization has hosted potential investors or site selectors in person since the pandemic brought most in-person engagement to a halt.

The Site Selectors Guild is the only association of the world’s foremost professional site selection consultants. Guild members provide location strategy to corporations across the globe and for every industry, sector, and function.
